The tonsils sit just behind the back teeth and if they are infected you will typically get a sore throat, fever, headache, and often, bad breath. The vast majority of sore throats are not tonsillitis, and are mostly viral (and therefore not helped by antibiotics).

Age related hearing loss is common, affecting at least one in three older adults. It can be isolating and embarrassing for some, and unfortunately, it tends to get worse with time. Step one, is to discuss the problem with your doctor to see what can be easily fixed.

In addition to providing all GP services, our medical team are able to assist with sports and injury medicine, occupational medicine, minor surgery, palliative care, family planning, hearing tests, travel advice, diving medicals, employment medicals, lap band adjustment and on-site pathology.

A Standard Consultations is 10 mins. If you need more time with your Doctor please arrange an extended consultation when booking your appointment. If more than one person from your family wishes to see the doctor at the same time, please ensure separate appointments are made. 

The centre operates on an appointment basis. Walk-Ins are accepted if a Doctor is available, however there may be an unavoidable wait as priority is given to patients who have made booked appointments with their Doctor. Urgent Appointments will be seen by the next available Doctor. Emergencies and urgent cases will always be given priority.

We understand your time is valuable, and do our best to keep to appointment times; however, patient medical needs are unpredictable. Please accept our apologies in advance if you experience an extended waiting time.

Fees and Payment Policy

Fees may vary due to the length and complexity of a consultation and are determined by individual GP’s. 

Full payment is required on the day of consultation and can be made by Cash, EFTPOS and Credit Cards (excluding Diners & American Express).  Medicare Claiming is available at the centre.

Workers Compensation
Patients claiming Workers Compensation or Motor Vehicle Claims must pay for their accounts each time until they provide a letter of acceptance and claim number.

Bulk Billing
Children under the age of 16 years, Pension Card and Health Care Card holders will be bulk billed Monday to Friday. 

 

 

PATIENT INFORMATION

Consultations
Our appointment system caters for urgent, non urgent, complex, planned chronic care and preventative health care.

Our centre operates on an appointment basis. Please phone 08 9401 2299 for an appointment or book online.

A standard consultation is 10 minutes.  If you need more time with your doctor, you will need to make sure you book a longer appointment.  If more than one person from your family wishes to see the doctor at the same time, please ensure separate appointments are made. 

Urgent appointments:
Urgent appointments will be seen by the next available Doctor.  Please advise reception if you require an urgent appointment.

Walk-ins:
We accept walk in patients at all times however, there may be an unavoidable wait as priority is given to patients you have booked an appointment.  There is no guarantee which doctor will be allocated to walk in patients.  Emergencies and urgent cases will always be given priority.

Fees and billing arrangements
Fees may vary due to the length and complexity of a consultation. Payment is required on the day of the consultation and can be made by Cash, Cheque, MasterCard, Visa or EFTPOS (excludes Diners and American Express)

Workers compensation patients must provide a claim number.

Pensioners, Health Care Card holders and children under the age of 16 will be bulk billed Monday to Friday.  All of the patients not bulk billed are required to pay in full on the day of consultation.

Patient feedback and complaints
We value your opinion, both positive and negative. Please let us know if we can improve our service to you. If you have a complaint, we would like to know immediately so we can address the problem. Surveys for patient feedback are conducted for accreditation purposes.

Reminder system
Our practice is committed to preventative care. We operate a reminder system and also take part in State and National Health Registers for immunisations, pap smears and chronic diseases.

We may issue you with a reminder notice from time to time offering you preventative health services appropriate to your care.  If you do not wish to participate in any reminder system please advise our practice nurse.

Results / Recalls
Please make a follow up appointment with your doctor for test results as it is the policy of this practice that results are not given over the telephone without prior arrangement with your Doctor.

Results are checked daily by the doctors. If they require urgent follow-up you will receive a phone call from either the doctor or nurse requesting that you make an appointment. In the case of a non urgent follow up you will receive notification by mail requesting that you make an appointment to see the doctor.

Telephone Policy
Most issues are best dealt with in consultation with your doctor and he / she will endeavour to take your call where practicable.  At times, your Doctor may be attending to other patients and may need to return your call. Please inform our reception staff if your call is urgent.

Repeat Prescriptions, Test Results and Referrals
You require an appointment to see your doctor for the following:
To obtain a repeat prescription
To obtain results of your pathology tests
To obtain a referral to a specialist

Medical records / Privacy Policy (Management of patient health information)
Your medical record is a confidential document. It is the policy of this practice to maintain security of personal health information at all times and to ensure that this information is only available to authorised members of staff.

Our Medical Centre complies with all confidentiality and privacy obligations.  Please refer to our privacy statement which is available for my reception

After Hours Arrangements
If you require medical attention outside normal Surgery hours, a Doctor can be contacted through the Australian Locum Medical Service on 9328 7111 or 13 26 60.

After Hours Care is also available at the GP after hours clinic, Joondalup Health Campus, Shenton Avenue, Joondalup from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekends and public holidays.

Home visits
Home visits, wherever possible, are available for regular patients of the practice whose condition prevents them from attending the surgery.
